As part of its ongoing efforts to document cases of loss and forcibly disappearance in the Gaza Strip, the Palestine Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared (PCMFD) has formally documented the case of 59-year-old Palestinian civilian Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Astal. The documented facts indicate a suspected case of enforced disappearance, occurring against the backdrop of military operations active in the area at the time.
According to verified testimony, documentation obtained by PCMFD, and a official mandate granted by the family, Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Astal (born July 21, 1965)—a daily-wage worker originally residing in the Al-Bahr Street area of Khan Younis, and temporarily displaced to Mawasi Al-Qarara—went missing on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Tracing his movements on the day of his disappearance reveals that Al-Astal left his displacement tent in the morning to visit his daughter before heading to the Kuwaiti Hospital in Khan Younis for medical care. CCTV footage retrieved from the medical facility confirms that he departed the premises at approximately 12:00 PM upon completing his treatment. Carried neither a mobile phone nor identification documents at the time, all contact with Al-Astal was completely severed immediately after he left the hospital, and he failed to return to his family.
Indicators of Enforced Disappearance
Al-Astal went missing in the vicinity of “Al-Nass Street” near the Kuwaiti Hospital in Khan Younis—an area that was experiencing intensive military operations and strict security control at the time. Coupled with the Israeli occupation authorities’ persistent refusal to disclose his whereabouts or provide information regarding his potential detention, these circumstances place his case under the strong suspicion of enforced disappearance.
